Humorous Bedtime Stories for Kids
The Bedbug Series was launched Dec. 8th of 2009 with publication of The Bedbug Who Wouldn't Bite. The second story, Bedbug and the Mouse in the House was published in Dec. of 2010.

These funny, rhymed bedtime stories struck a chord with children. I was delighted at the response. Kids who received the first book, wanted the second story and throughout 2010, I received inquires as to when the second book would be published.

One little girl from Cape Breton literally wore out her first book. Her uncle ordered the second book and then decided to order the first one for her again, in the larger format. I slipped in an extra bedbug for this dear little girl (she'd worn out "BEDBUG" too!)

"Grandma, why wouldn't the bedbug bite?"

The inspiration for these stories was sparked by my granddaughter who was a little wiggle-worm at bedtime. She thought it was hilarious that BEDBUG just wanted to "sleep tight" but found the tables turned on him by a rambunctious child.

She loved the sleepy bedbug character and kept "bugging" me to finish the story. I spent a year working on the verses before sending it out for publication.

"Grandma, where's the next book? . . . and where's the mouse?
I dedicated the second book to my grandson, who'd received the first story and wanted Book II, (pictured below). Of course, both kids thought grandma should be able to produce a story almost instantaneously!











I designed these books to appeal to children so the characters do not do what they are supposed to do: BEDBUG doesn't bite, he just wants to "sleep tight." MOUSE is naughty, noisy, and has no plans to sleep, she dances and she prances instead of counting sheep . . .

The stories also model good manners. In each story, BEDBUG says "please." I included fun-sounding words that roll off the tongue: "clitter-pitter-patter." Each book has a CLUE that points forward to the next character, which sparks curiosity about each new story.

Toy for Book II

With publication of the second book, people anticipated a second toy and most wanted MOUSE, along with the second story.
