Ebay's New Pay-Per-Click Program & What it Means for Hubbers

Ebay has unveiled a new program, Quality Click Pricing for Affiliates, which means earnings when someone actually clicks . . .

If you are a member of HubPages, you are aware that revenue was previously generated when someone clicked on one of your eBay product capsules, visited the eBay auction site and made a purchase.

However, change is afoot. EBay has rolled out Quality Click Pricing for Affiliates. This represents a change in the way that eBay affiliates and thus Hubbers make money.

Previously, in a typical scenario, an affiliate or Hubber would post an auction capsule to their site or HubPage. If someone visiting the page bid on and won an auction the affiliate/Hubber would earn a piece of the revenue pie. A cookie placed on the visitor's computer tracked purchases made within a short period of time.

EBay Click Revenue
The new eBay pay-per-click policy will reward affiliates/Hubbers. The good news is that now, each time someone clicks on an advert for an eBay product, you earn revenue. I rather like this idea. For two reasons:
  1.  Hubbers who get lots of clicks on their pages (but that generate few actual purchases) still earn from activity on their pages
  2. I see potential for Hubbers who have created hundreds of pages with numerous eBay product capsules.
However, there's a hitch  . . .

EBay will check traffic quality and will then reveal how much Hubbers will be paid per click. Hubbers would do well to study the pay ratio in relation to their clicks to learn which types of products are generating the most pay-per-click revenue.

EBay Click Revenue--the Downside
For website owners, affiliates and Hubbers who have mastered selling products and earning significant revenue from same, a potential downside from the new program is that they will likely see a sharp drop in earnings.
