When one "lives" on the Internet as I do, one comes across different sites offering services to writers/entrepreneurs looking to expand upon their efforts online. I would recommend the sites below to anyone who is serious about building a business online.

You already have an AdSense account and you are looking to monetize your site
Blogger--I've tried both Blogger and WordPress blogging platforms and both have their merits. I like how Blogger is so darn tweakable and how AdSense is synchronized with Blogger, which means it takes mere seconds to install ads and move them wherever you see fit. Hands down, Blogger offers one of the fastest routes to setting up a free blog and monetizing it, with zero investment. A plus in my books is that you can twiddle with your HTML code if necessary. This is certainly not for the faint of heart but gives flexibility where needed. Blogger has recently added new templates with additional backgrounds and columns, which is also another huge advantage.

This is a good first step for those getting their feet wet online. I would suggest, if you go this route, to obtain a domain name that includes relevant keywords as I have done here at Write and Earn a Living. If you look up top, you will see the .com in the URL.
WordPress--You have probably heard it bandied about that WordPress offers more from an SEO standpoint, especially with the plug-ins one can choose from and, of course, it's a given that this can make a difference to your bottom line. I personally find WordPress a pain to work with. I have blogged using both Blogger and WordPress and find that WordPress seems nowhere near as intuitive as Blogger; however, others love WordPress and don't mind working with it or installing the necessary themes/plug-ins to get their sites to look how they want.
If you've decided to finally bite the bullet and move up to a WordPress blog and monetize it, you will have to pay for monthly/yearly hosting (the free WordPress does not not allow for monetization). I would recommend using either Host Gator or Blue Host as your hosting provider. Why?
- Host Gator is a well-known and favorite site and allows for set up of WordPress and offers a free site builder.
- Blue Host has an excellent reputation in the industry for web hosting and as an ebusiness provider. This doesn't surprise me.
