Choosing an Article Category & Planning Your First Article

In my last post, I discussed getting started with content writing. Today, we will cover choosing an article category.

Okay, you've chosen a content site and have registered and included your PayPal information. Now, you should invest time to become familiar with the site and with the online editor you'll be using to publish your work. Next, you'll want to plan your first article.

Most content sites are organized into categories and you can peruse these to generate ideas for your first article. Content sites usually include categories such as health, technology, science, finance, etc. Use the article categories to help you decide on a subject to write about.

To save time, it is best to choose a category & a topic you are familiar with. If you are knowledgeable about a particular subject, this cuts down on time spent researching facts. Always strive for an accuracy to build credible articles that gain traction online.

Once you've settled on a category and have a topic and/or article idea in mind, ask yourself questions about your topic using "who, what, where, when, why," and "how" to determine a slant for your article. This mental exercise helps you to quickly determine what you want to write about.

Because you'll be writing many articles as a content writer, you'll want to implement time-saving strategies, right from the get-go.
