The Rewards of Writing

Writing brings many rewards: a sense of achievement, as you reach and eclipse personal goals, personal satisfaction because you are living your bliss, monetary rewards because you are paid for your efforts.

Another reward, though, is the feedback you get from others. I love helping someone to reach out and embrace his/her dream of becoming a writer. We are all in this together and reaching out is the best way to "add to the pot."

At the end of a long day, receiving an e-mail expressing appreciation can be the icing on the cake.

When you think about it, that's why most of us write, to reach out and touch others with our ideas and our inspiration. When someone comments on an article or sends us a letter of appreciation, this completes the loop.

Mentoring others with insider insights is symbiotic. In the end, we all benefit.

Warm Weather Challenges

Well, it's finally warmed up in this part of world. It seems unbelievable to me that it stays cold out in Atlantic Canada until May or June. I'm used to much warmer temperatures a whole lot sooner.

As the warmer weather approaches, many writers find they are hard-pressed for time. As I'm sure all of you who work from home know, trying to carve out enough time for writing is a hard climb.

People are under the mistaken impression that it must be somehow easier to work from home. Most writers find just the opposite. At an office outside of the home, you face less distractions. The well known scenario of a writer renting a cabin in the woods for a couple of months touches a chord with most of us. We KNOW why someone would do this.

The problem gets more challenging as summer activities consume larger amounts of time. For most of us, writing is a tad obsessive and while we need the odd break to recharge our creative batteries, if we are separated from our computers for too long, we find ourselves feeling restless and dissatisfied.

I'm trying to plan for this and am working to get ahead so that I feel less pressured and take time to enjoy the warmer weather and all the pleasures that summer brings.

I hope you do, too!

Update on HubPage Sign-ups

Well, it's happened again: more HubPage activity. I now have 45 sign-ups.

I've written before about my experiences publishing on HubPages so won't detail that again; however, this is a reminder: if you have knowledge you could share with others, you could also earn ongoing royalties by creating HubPages like I've done.

This blog's purpose is to educate and help fellow writers to earn an income from their writing endeavors and to that end, I include opportunities that I feel are viable.

HubPages is free to join so it is a good opportunity for those on a budget. And, as I've mentioned, you earn more when others sign up for HubPages.
