In a previous discussion, I mentioned that I had joined Suite 101 and I indicated I would keep readers up to speed about my experiences.
I thought Suite 101 looked like a good opportunity for writers because the site has a credible 10-year history. You have to be a published writer to make the cut and follow specific criteria to get your articles published via Suite.
To be honest, the tutorials were what sold me on writing for Suite 101. I've been producing keyword articles for the Internet for some time now and wanted to brush up on my SEO and keyword optimization techniques. Suite 101 provides editorial reviews and tutorials on writing for the Web. I thought that mentoring, coupled with exposure, was a win-win scenario.
Incidentally, Suite 101 is the Web's leading online publication for advice, opinion, and commentary, and is committed to building a network of trained, professional writers. For writers looking to boost credibility online and flesh out their resumes, this is an excellent opportunity.
So far, writing with Suite has been everything I expected. It takes time to build earnings but I'm approaching this as a long-term goal--just another writing project among many.
Suite also offers a widget you can place on your website or blog to increase interest in your articles. The widget conveniently directs readers to your articles.

HubPages Referral Income
Today, we are going to take a look at HubPages referral income. If you have gotten started with HubPages, don't forget to add your URL tracker into any links when you link to other HubPages, so that you don't leave a potential income stream untapped.
Linking to other HubPages is a great way to boost your earnings using the HubPage platform. As I've touched on in previous articles, you earn from AdSense advertisements running on your HubPages and from E-Bay and Amazon product capsules you include in your Hubs, but linking to Hubbers' HubPages is also an excellent way to increase your HubPages income. When you link to other pages, you set a revenue stream in motion because you earn a share from the impressions those pages generate. This is a passive income running in the background. It takes seconds to link to other Hubs but the rewards are on-going.
Referral Income
Each time you place a link to someone else's HubPage in an e-mail, in a blog or forum post, or on a website, you'll receive a share of the impressions the HubPage generates. With the traffic referral program, you earn 9-12% of total impressions. If you refer people to a tag page or the
HubPages homepage, you earn 30% on traffic referral.
Here's my recent activity I just use the default tracker via my HubPages account.
1 trackers
18
453
$81.77
So, what do we learn from this? I've generated 18 sign-ups from my links, the people who signed up using my referral link created 453 Hubs, and you can see the Earnings Estimate.
How do you link to other Hubbers' HubPages?
First, you will need to consider where you submit your writing. Do you have blogs or sites where you could include the links?
Second, make sure you are signed into HubPages, then go to the page you want to link to and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You can use the link or the HTML code provided. It will contain your default tracking token. Your token has to be embedded in the link in order for you to receive revenue.
Alternatively, you can create a tracking token, if you want to monitor where your referrals are coming from. HubPages allows you to create up to 20 independent trackers. This is valuable if you want to determine the best linking strategies.
For myself, I just use the default tracker, to save on time. And, as you can see from the chart, this is working well and money is being generated.
Finally, if you haven't signed up for HubPages, you can do so using any of these links.
What are the benefits of creating HubPages? Do you make money from it?

Review Work: Writing Reviews
If you are already experienced with paid blogging, you might want to take a look at another way of earning income via writing.
Getting paid to write reviews is the next step. Reviews are generally written in a descriptive fashion, whereas a blog post is usually more personal: " I liked this product because . . . " A review tends to be more formal: " . . . project X is an established company in a competitive market. . . "
Pay rates are similar for reviews and word counts tend to run around 200.
One company you can get started with is ReviewMe. You'll need to submit your blog for approval. Number of reviews you complete is based on your blog and payment is sent each month.

Blogging: How do you Get Paid?
Today's blog post is in response to questions I've received from readers about blogging and payment.
Readers have written asking how they actually get paid for blogging. There seems to be some confusion about how to earn money from blogging. One reader asked if he would get paid from advertisements.
When you blog for pay, you receive compensation for a post detailing an advertiser's product or describing a site and its benefits. For example, a travel site might require a description of the benefits offered to travelers; a hotel site may want you to discuss budget-friendly options; a blogging site may want a review.
You are paid for your post, not from ads. Getting paid from ads. that run on pages you create is a revenue share opportunity and is somewhat different from paid blogging posts. While you are still creating content, and this may indeed be called "blogging," this is different.
To blog for pay, you first need to create a blog and post regularly so that your readership and PR goes up. Advertisers consider PR when offering different opportunities. Your payment levels are determined by these factors; the type of blog makes a difference, too.
A blog about technology/gadgets might have a larger readership base and greater Internet impact and be more usable to advertisers over a diary-type blog. If you want to blog for pay, you'll need to consider these factors when setting up a blog or blogs.
Payment rates vary and you will see these after you have signed up for different blogging opportunities.
