Well, it's finally warmed up in this part of world. It seems unbelievable to me that it stays cold out in Atlantic Canada until May or June. I'm used to much warmer temperatures a whole lot sooner.
As the warmer weather approaches, many writers find they are hard-pressed for time. As I'm sure all of you who work from home know, trying to carve out enough time for writing is a hard climb.
People are under the mistaken impression that it must be somehow easier to work from home. Most writers find just the opposite. At an office outside of the home, you face less distractions. The well known scenario of a writer renting a cabin in the woods for a couple of months touches a chord with most of us. We KNOW why someone would do this.
The problem gets more challenging as summer activities consume larger amounts of time. For most of us, writing is a tad obsessive and while we need the odd break to recharge our creative batteries, if we are separated from our computers for too long, we find ourselves feeling restless and dissatisfied.
I'm trying to plan for this and am working to get ahead so that I feel less pressured and take time to enjoy the warmer weather and all the pleasures that summer brings.
I hope you do, too!
