Today's blog post is in response to questions I've received from readers about blogging and payment.
Readers have written asking how they actually get paid for blogging. There seems to be some confusion about how to earn money from blogging. One reader asked if he would get paid from advertisements.
When you blog for pay, you receive compensation for a post detailing an advertiser's product or describing a site and its benefits. For example, a travel site might require a description of the benefits offered to travelers; a hotel site may want you to discuss budget-friendly options; a blogging site may want a review.
You are paid for your post, not from ads. Getting paid from ads. that run on pages you create is a revenue share opportunity and is somewhat different from paid blogging posts. While you are still creating content, and this may indeed be called "blogging," this is different.
To blog for pay, you first need to create a blog and post regularly so that your readership and PR goes up. Advertisers consider PR when offering different opportunities. Your payment levels are determined by these factors; the type of blog makes a difference, too.
A blog about technology/gadgets might have a larger readership base and greater Internet impact and be more usable to advertisers over a diary-type blog. If you want to blog for pay, you'll need to consider these factors when setting up a blog or blogs.
Payment rates vary and you will see these after you have signed up for different blogging opportunities.
